In persistently infected herds there may be a high risk in gilts and sows for the transmission of M. hyopneumoniae onto their offspring (1). The possibility to induce the transmission of protective concentrations of antibodies by means of sow vaccination has been described (2). The present evaluation tries to establish to what extent the immune reaction of piglets which were vaccinated in their 1. and 4. or 4. and 8. week of life respectively is being interfered by maternal antibodies which had beeninduced by vaccinating the sows.
