摘要

Non-specific colitis (NSC) is a common cause of diarrhoea in growing pigs, having a detrimental effect on growth rates (3,4). The cause(s) of the syndrome is unknown, but is thought to involve complex interactions between dietary factors, management practices and the intestinal microflora. This report forms part of a larger concerted investigation of NSC in pigs. The objective of this component of the project was to investigate whether, and to what extent, the principal bacterial groups of the colonic microflora differed between healthy and NSC-affected animals.
