PRODUCTIVITY OF GILTS IN CRATES AND GROUP-HOUSED DURING PREGNANCY

In Brazil there has been a tendency to increase the use of crate housing during gestation of swine females. Nevertheless, European Community, based on rules of well-being of animals, recommends the use of collective housing during gestation period. Inthe present study, the effect of different types of housing during gestation on the reproductive performance of gilts and their litters was evaluated.
