PIGLET COCCIDIOSIS CONTROL WITH TOLTRAZURIL(BAYCOX 5) IN FIELD CONDITION

Piglets Coccidiosis occurs mainly 7 to 21 days old and major causative agent is Isospora suis (1). The main clinical signs are watery to pasty diarrhea and depressed weight gain. Most of anticoccidial drugs are very low efficient (2). Cheil Breeding Fann, a 2300 sows operation, at which I'm a farm practitioner, has coccidial problem for many years. Many methods have been studied to reduce the coccidial problem and finally decided to use toltrazuril (Baycox5%). In summer, coccidial diarrhea breaks outin about 90% of farrowing sow and other season's outbreak is about40-50% on our farm. The purposes were to test how efficient toltrazuril for coccidiosis and reduce summer coccidiosis because the coccidiosis is most severe in summer.
