The aim was to study the effect of short paroxysm (SP) of atrial fibrillation (AF) in relation to mechanical and excitation functions. 26 pts with paroxysm of AF in sinus rhythm and 30 healthy were observed before and after transesophageal electrophysiological testing (TET). The left atrium (LA) and ventricle (LV) volumes (V{sub}(LA), V{sub}(LV)) and their ejection fraction (EF{sub}(LA), EF{sub}(LV)) were determined by EchoCG. Heterogeneity excitation was detected according to the extremum number (N{sub}A, N{sub}V) on the MCG maps. According to TET, pts were divided on two groups: 1st-14 pts with induced SP (2-10min) of AF and 2nd-12 pts at rest. Disturbances of LA&LV mechanical function and excitation were revealed before TET both in healthy (EF{sub}(LA)-54±1%, EF{sub}(LV)-57±1%, N{sub}A-35±2, N{sub}V-55±2) and pts (50±2%, 47±2%, 44±3, 83±4, respectively) and EF{sub}(LA), in the 1st group (46±2%) was diminished compared with 2nd (56±2%). After TET, MCG and EchoCG parameters in healthy was not changed, but V{sub}(LA), EF{sub}(LA), N{sub}A, N{sub}V were worse in the 1st group. The SP of AF was connected with excitation of both atria and ventricles and with alteration of LA mechanical function. The study has shown the correlation between MCG parameters for myocardium excitation and EchoCG parameters for pump function.
