摘要

This paper describes the details of ITU-T SG15 G.723.1 speech coder implementation using ARM9 Thumb* processor core along with various techniques in the optimization process. The speech coder has two bit rates associated with it, 6.3 and 5.3 kbit/s, and supports toll quality at the lowest bit rate. The input to the speech encoder is assumed to be a 16 bit PCM signal at a sampling rate of 8000 samples per second. The implemented coder requires 91.2 MCPS (Million Cycles Per Second) for the higher rate and 77.2 MCPS for the lower rate, 70.8 kBytes of program ROM and 6.2 kBytes of data RAM, respectively. The implemented coder is tested against the set of 8 test vectors provided by ITU-T for bit exact implementation.
