The non-linear optical (NLO) single crystals of Nd{sub}xY{sub}(-x)A1l{sub}3(BO{sub}3){sub}4 and Gd{sub}xY{sub}(1-y)Al{sub}3(BO{sub}3){sub}4 have been grown from fluxed melts based on the potassium trimolybdate by both the TSSG method and spontaneous crystallization. Also, NLO and ferroelectric stillwellite-like lanthanum-neodymium borosilicate were obtained using the same flux system, but with an excess of potassium fluoride. The composition of grown crystals was studied by electron microprobe analysis, and structural characteristics were determined for all the single crystals.
