We have significantly enhanced the flexibility of a ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) device containing polymer walls and networks by using thinner plastic substrates and by optimizing conditions for polymer-wall forming. The uniformity of the FLC alignment was maintained even after the device using 100-μm-thick substrates was bent in a curvature radius of 7mm. A largely-fabricated device (100mm X 100mm) between crossed polarizers demonstrated roll-up display capability.
