The method of approximation polynomials for simultaneous determination of the temperature and concentration of a heated gas from its spectral characteristics is considered. The accuracy of finding the experimental values of the thermodynamic parameters was increased by using an arbitrary number (> 2) of spectral centers and taking into account the measurement error of the transmission function. Approbation of the improved technique was carried out using the most accurate measurements of the transmission function of carbon dioxide in the temperature range 500-1770 K and the partial pressure ρCO_2=0.17-1 atm.
