摘要

Chiral 1,2-diols are a versatile group as chiral starting materials for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, pheromones, and liquid crystals, etc. In various methods for preparing optically active diols from corresponding racemates stereoinversion catalyzed by microorganisms is one way with 100% theoretical yield. Optically active 1-phenyl-1,2-ethanediol is a valuable chiral building block. (S)-1-phenyl-1,2-ethanediol can be used as a chiral initiator for stereoselective polymerization and a precursor for the production of chiral biphosphines. This paper mainly describes the bioconversion of (S)-1-phenyl-1,2-ethanediol by microbial stereoinversion.
