Catalytic reactions take place in the riser within a few seconds. In order to carry out the reactions selectively and effectively, uniform fluidization in the riser is essential, especially in the nozzle region, which primary reactions nearly finish in this region. This paper introduces a novel pre-riser to make the catalyst-oil uniformly contact in this region by mainly changing the catalyst flowing track. Experimental data are obtained from a 150 mm I.D. cold riser and 70,000 t/a commercial fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit and the 800,000 t/a FCC unit.
