摘要

The vasovagal or neurally mediated syncope (NMS) is a common disorder of the autonomic cardiovascular regulation, showing a substantial physical and social morbidity. This complex syndrome usually is caused by inappropriate reflex vasodilatation and bradycardia, of sporadic nature. However, a small percentage of patients present NMS as a chronic and recurrent disorder with an important impact on their quality of life. In such circumstances, as NMS becomes a risk for severe trauma, an adequate clinical assessment and careful selection of specific treatment is necessary.
