The World Health Organization and Sasakawa Memorial Health Foundation joint project: medical relief for children affected by the Chernobyl accident through the development and implementation of health telematics

The World Health Organization (WHO) and Sasakawa Memorial Health Foundation (SMFH), in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus (the Ministry), have established and promoted a project entitled "Medical Relief for Children Affected by the Chernobyl Accident through the Development and Implementation of Health Telematics" to improve early diagnosis of thyroid diseases and follow-up of patients who have developed thyroid cancer due to exposure to radioactive fallout. The article reviews the development and current status of the project.
