A flow boiling heat transfer prediction method for CO{sub}2 was developed to cover the predryout, dryout, and postdryout flow regimes. This heat transfer prediction method uses the Chen (1966) correlation to calculate the predryout heat transfer coefficient depending on the dimension of the tube and the heat flux. It uses the Dougall and Rohsenow (1963) correlation to calculate the postdryout heat transfer coefficient and it uses a linear distribution of the heat transfer coefficient during dryout. This method is evaluated using the experimental data and other data found in the literature. A comparison between the heat transfer coefficient prediction method presented in this study and the traditional flow boiling correlations shows that significantly improvements are achieved.
