Treatment of an Extensive Infantile Hemangioma with a Combination of Nd-YAG Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) System

Introduction: Recently, lasers and light systems are used more for the treatment of vascular lesions due to their noninvasiveness, ease of use, and short recovery time. We report here a case of extensive infantile hemangioma treated with Nd-YAG laser and PDL combination. Case: A five months old girl presented to our clinic with an extensive hemangioma involving his right pectoral and axillary region green intense pulsed light emission combined in the early 6 sessions with a 90 J/cm2 Nd-YAG laser in a monthly routine. Total therapeutic period was 17 months. After 25 sessions and after the 30th session of therapy the lesion almst completely resolved. Conclusion: This is the first case of such extensive infantile vascular lesion treated with the intensive pulsed light combined with the Nd-YAG laser. This could be considered as a basis to describe new therapeutic protocols for managing the infantile vascular lesions.
