The main objective of this paper was to evaluate the use of the Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) technique for the moisture determination of soils, based on the calibration curve which correlates moisture contents to the dielectric constant of the soil, determined in the laboratory. To define the influence of the change of conditions in the curve, soils with different characteristics were sampled, varying the compaction energy used in each sample. Finally, the TDR technique was evaluated during the compaction of soil layers in situ and the results compared favorably with those obtained by usual techniques.
