The interaction of mild steel St 37 and 2M H_2SO_4 in presence and absence of a magnetic field in static conditions was studied. A Moessbauer analysis of the corrosion products from the steel cylinder surfaces and precipitates shows fine steel particles, FeSO_4.7H_2O and Fe(OH)SO_4 on the cylinder surfaces and FeSO_4.7H_2O, Fe(OH)SO_4 and nanosize θ-Fe_3C in precipitates. The corrosion rates, compared by means of a volumetric index for corrosion show an inhibitor effect in a magnetic field about 20%.
