Dispenser cathode units of electron guns with low voltage control rod for high power O-type electron vacuum devices

Providing of necessary reliability and lifetime of constructive and technological decisions in modern high power electron devices with low voltage control is urgent problem. The conventional electron guns with grids of less than 1mm size cells have some essential disadvantages. Particularly, the grids may be destroyed at electric break-downs in high power devices, haven't satisfactory mechanical strength in some applications, distort electron trajectories. These drawbacks are excluded in electron guns with control rod. A series of the developed electron guns with low voltage control rod and containing Os-coated dispenser cathodes are used in high power TWT. These guns show high reliability as well as lifetime. Basic scheme of designing and producing of both the electron guns and the cathode units has been developed.
