摘要

A procedure for transforming a modal damping matrix to physical coordinates is outlined and the accuracy of the procedure is verified by example. This transformation is useful in shock analysis as oftentimes it is desirable to use the same damping in a direct transient analysis, i.e., in physical coordinates, that is used in a modal transient analysis, i.e., in modal coordinates.
