Just like a chemical reaction, continuous improvement is rarely a spontaneous event. There is usually significant resistance to change that has to be overcome. In a chemical reaction process this resistance is referred to as the "Energy of Activation." Often significant amounts of energy have to be applied until the reaction starts. This energy level can be reduced and the reaction speed increased by the use of catalysts. This paper describes the various catalysts that have been gathered together and applied in a methodology to activate continuous improvement in a global wire and cable business.
