Cornell University's faculty and students have lead animal nutrition research since the beginning of the modern era of agricultural science. In poultry nutrition, this tradition started with James E. Rice and continues today. For the last 75 years wehave known more about the nutrition of the chicken than that of any other species and much of this amazing bounty was due to fundamental research at Cornell. This review examines the contribution of Cornell's faculty to our understanding of poultry nutrition. Prior to detailing Cornell's contribution I will set the stage with the state of poultry nutrition prior to Cornell's domination of the discipline.
