A two-layer, hand-sewn, end-to-end Jejunoileal anastomosis technique can result in few postoperative complications. Advantages to this technique include maintaining the normal ileocecal valve, shorter surgical time, and a generally uncomplicated postoperative recovery in the majority of horses.
