摘要

Experiments of flow visualization for convective heat transfer from a rotating drum with fin array are performed to clarify the heat transfer mechanisms. Motion pictures of the flow in the channel between the fins are taken with using a smoke generator and a high-speed video camera. The picture confirms the existence of two predominant flows, i.e., the channel-like flow and the cavity-like flow, which were assumed to be existed in the fin space for correlating the heat transfer data obtained in the previous study. By comparing between the flow velocity measured from a streak of a particle of the smoke on the picture and the heat transfer coefficients obtained from another experiment, the relationship between the flow velocity and the heat transfer characteristics is discussed.
