If aqueous solution with low concentration is used for static-type ice-storage-device, even when the large amount of solution is solidified, the pressure increase can be prevented because of existing of the continuous liquid phase in a solidified layer which opens to an air gap at the top of the vessel. There is also some possibility of augmentation on the melting rate, because hot melt could permeate a mushy region and melt the mush. In the present study, experiments using bare and finned tubes in a test cell have been made for initial concentration of aqueous ethylene glycol ranged from 0% to 2.0% in mass.
