Non-aqueous polymer dispersions consist of polymer particles insoluble in the organic medium and stabilizer polymer as dispersant. Silicone modified non-aqueous acrylic polymer dispersions are prepared by the polymerization of gamma-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxysilane with acrylic and styrene monomers. The films, based on silicone modified non-aqueous acrylic polymer dispersions which undergo self-crosslinking due to hydrolysis followed by the condensation reaction may exhibit variety in mechanical properties and weatherability. In both the components of silicone modified non-aqueous acrylic polymer dispersions -polymer particles and stabilizer polymer the reactivity of alkoxysilyl self-crosslinkable moieties was shown to be the same. Dynamic-viscoelasticity behavior is controlled predominantly by the average molecular weight between cross-links (Mc) in stabilizer polymer in silicone modified non-aqueous acrylic polymer dispersion, while mechanical properties are related to the both polymer particles and stabilizer polymer.
