The direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method and the Quantum-Kinetic (Q-K) chemical method is applied to the problem of lateral jet interaction of a THAAD-like missile in Near Space. The real gas effect on the pressure distribution over the surface of missile, thus the force and moment, is investigated at different altitudes, while two amplification factors are introduced and compared at different altitudes with or without chemical reactions. The amplification effect of jet interaction control is shown to be depressed by the real gas effect in Near Space and the difference will decrease with the increase of altitude. If we take 1% as the criterion, the real gas effect may be neglected when reaching or exceeding 70km in current conditions.
