A Framework to facilitate Mobile data access in a Manufacturing Environment

Providing enterprise information anywhere, anytime has become essential to make effective and informed decisions in today's manufacturing environments. Improvements in mobile computing technology have made it possible to provide data access to the mobile work force in industries. In this paper, we provide a framework to enable enterprise data access through mobile devices. We discuss various issues relevant to manufacturing environments and mobile computing and propose an approach to provide an effective framework to facilitate enterprise data access. We also propose the use of mobile agent technology to accomplish processing of user requests and discuss the various issues that are necessary to realize a complete mobile solution for the manufacturing environment.
