Practical case of a 60" diameter coated pipe for an aqueduct in Mexico City Valley. Several lakes existed in the Valley that due to the growth of the population, ground water explotation for drinking purposes have been depressing the ground water levels, and because of the surface evaporation, the lakes were little by little disappearing occasioning in the soils, salt concentrations with high pH levels. The external coating of the pipes for the more aggressive soils is tapes with thickness of 80 mils. The external coating of the pipes for the less aggressive soils is 150 mils coal tar enamel.
