Methods to predict and solve vibro-acoustic problems based on ray tracing techniques have been evolving greatly in the last couple of years. In order to predict problems related to acoustic propagation and scattering, the consideration of diffraction effects is paramount. A methodology to introduce diffraction effects is described, evaluated and verified using test data. The comparison between test and predicted data shows very good agreement and demonstrates the applicability of this technology to general engineering problems.
