K/sub 3/Li/sub 2-x/Nb/sub 5+x/O/sub 15+2x/ single-crystal fibers have been grown using the LHPG technique. Ceramic source rods of K/sub 3.00/Li/sub 1.70/Nb/sub 5.30/O/sub 15.6/ (KLN53), K/sub 3.00/Li/sub 1.85/Nb/sub 5.15/O/sub 1.53/ (K-LN51.5) and K/sub 3/Li/sub 2/Nb/sub 5/O/sub 15/ (KLN50) were adapted to grow the fibers with the same composition. Growth of KLN53 fibers was easier than that of KLN51.5 and KLN50 fibers. An orientation of 110 was preferable. A pulling rate of 98.0 mm/h was realized for the 110 oriented KLN53 single-crystal fiber. The 110 and 100 oriented KLN53 fibers were rectangular in shape, while the 001 oriented fiber was cylindrical in shape. The Curie temperature measurements revealed that compositions of the KLN51.5 and KLN50 fibers did not coincide with that of the ceramic source rods.
