The application of 1,10-phenanthroline derivatives as a type of high potential analytical indicators, for example, 5-nitro-1, 10-phenanthroline as an redox indicator in cerate oxidimetry and 5,6-dialky1-1, 10-phenanthroline (alkyl = methyl or ethyl ) are sensitive reagents for the detection of iron(Ⅱ), is very extensive and important in many industrial regions. These compounds are also used widely as novel ligands or intermediates of sensors, catalysts and probes in fluorescence, chemical luminescence, electrochemical luminescence, immune electrochemical luminescence and photo-chemistry and so on.
