A metasystem allows seamless access to a collection of distributed computational resources. We address the problem of obtaining useful information about the performance of applications executed on a metasystem, as well as the performance of the metasystem itself. This article describes the experiences and preliminary results on incorporating a profiling facility in a Java-based metasystem. Our case study is SUMA, a metasystem for execution of Java bytecode, with additional support for scientific computing.
