This paper presents the results of field tests on the control of bridge vibration and radiated low frequency noise. A kind of dynamic vibration absorber made up of two form pads on a steel plate is used and applied to a highway bridge. This type of dynamic device was tuned at a fundamental frequency of the highway bridge. Two tests with a truck running across a bridge were carried out. Bridge deck accelerations, girder accelerations and radiated low frequency noise were measured. The use of dynamic vibration control devices may reduce the bridge response and radiated low frequency noise at a fundamental frequency.
