The design of gas-fired boilers for domestic heating is usually applied to the thermal efficiency optimization, safety, remote control systems etc. But often and often constructors must concern with the noise emission of such type of boilers, mainly in the case of indoor use. In some nations, then, is or will be required a sort of certification in order to respect some specific noise emission limits. This is the main reason that induces some important constructors to equip their research laboratories with effective instruments also for acoustics. The most popular method for determining the noise emissions of this type of source is based on reverberation rooms. Anyway, it must be recognized that reverberation rooms design for these tests should take into account not only the acoustic characteristics but also some other ones: air inlet and exhaust systems, installation requirements for the noise source (e.g. wall or floor mounting), gas and water supply, safety. In this real case all the previous items are exploited. Starting from source dimensions, the acoustical simulation lets to define the room shape; then, the other problems were solved referring to the particular location of the room (urban and industrial area, near to some industrial noise sources).
