Recently, more and more people are interested in the construction and application of protein containing polyelectrolyte multilayer films. A study in which antibodies were incorporated in a polyelectrolyte multilayer seems to indicate that the embedded proteins retain their reactivity with respect to their antigens. This polyelectrolyte multilayer technology was also used for protein separation by means of capillary electrophoresis by Graul and Schlenoff. All these applications require first to understand the protein adsorption mechanism on the polyelectrolyte films. However, to our knowledge, only one paper of the study of the interactions between proteins and polyelectrolyte films was reported up to now.
