Image Compression by Vector Quantization on Parallel Processors System

摘要

This paper presents a parallel algorithm for Vector Quantization technique for digital image compression using parallel processing systems. VQ can compress an image with good compression ratio. However, the computation time for the code book is long due to the complexity fo the code book searching algorithm. By using parapllel processing techniques can reduce the time of computation of code books. In this research, thereby, the compression ratio and the speed up of the parallel implementation was investigated.
