Support System to the Surgical Treatments and Practices. Electronic Brainwriting in the Requirements Elicitation

In General Surgery of the Independencia Hospital (Santiago del Estero, Republica Argentina), the amount of patients has grown as far as the experience in a wide range of cases. A team of professionals and advanced students of the Universidad Nacional de Santiago del Estero in combination with phisicians and residents of the mentioned hospital have designed a research and development project named "Evidence Based Surgical Knowledge. Design and Development of a Decision Support System" that uses the premises of the Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) and it has the purpose to help to the obtaining of surgical knowledge that allows to achieve the evidence. This mentioned project is in the starting stage of development. In this paper, the application of an Electronic Brainwriting (EB) is described for the system requirements elicitation to develop. The EB is designed and implemented in the Web and it is coordinated by a CGI application located in a Internet server. The experience achieved has been very profitable and the result was a document where the functions and restrictions of the Surgical Practices and Treatments Support System (SPTSS) are defined in a clear, precise, complete and testeable way.
