Control engineering taught under the umbrella of different disciplines (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering, industrial and manufacturing systems and mathematics) is differentiated by the applications which support its introduction. In electrical engineering, control is characterized by its relationship to circuits and systems, to signal processing and to instrumentation. More advanced applications, such power systems, may be introduced at a later point in the curriculum.
