摘要

The layout or arrangement of equipment in the work areas is an inevitable problem in all industrial plants. A flow shop is a conventional manufacturing system in which machines are arranged in the order in which operations are performed on jobs and the operation sequence is same for all jobs. The flow line based manufacturing cell is present in Group Technology. Group Technology (GT) has been recognized as an important disciplined approach to low volume/high variety and mid volume/mid variety manufacturing. The main idea of the cellular manufacturing is to divide manufacturing systems into some small-sized sub systems. One of the most important problems in designing a Cellular manufacturing is the formation of machine cells and the grouping of parts. Many approaches have been developed for the formation of machine cells and part families modern heuristic techniques namely simulated annealing, genetic algorithms and tabu search seem very promising for good optimal solution from this respect. In this paper a Genetic algorithm based approach has been given to minimize exceptional elements.
