Using the ~(56)Fe (d, p)~(57)Fe~* reaction, in-beam Moessbauer spectra of ~(57)Fe~* implanted into pure Fe were obtained between 50 and 700 K at crystal orientations of the γ-emission varying from ,[100] to [110]. Comparison with the spectra of ~(57)Fe~* on substitutional sites as measured conventionally reveals marked differences between the two sets of hyperfine parameters and indicates the presence of ~(57)Fe~* on defect sites at times of order of magnitude of 10~(-7)s after implantation. Between 400 and 700 K these differences depend strongly on the crystal orientation. The observations allow us to study the jumps of ~(57)Fe~* on non-lattice sites on the time scale 10~(-7)s.
