Expert systems for controlling a KCP (Kureha crystal purifier)

A KCP (Kureha Crystal Purifier) continuously produces pure crystal from etude crystal. KCPs have been practiced around thirty years in chemical industries. Even though the KCP requires little operation, it had not been automated previously because its dynamic model was not obtainable. Various complicated phenomena are involved in the KCP, and it is extremely difficult to obtain its dynamic model. Therefore, an expert system is adopted for automating the KCP. The system requires no operation and the crystal yield has been improved by a few percent.
