Alternative copolymer of fluoro-olefin and alkyl vinyl ethers has been used for highly durable coating materials. Tetrafluoroethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene were compared as a fluoro-olefin of the copolymer, and the effect of fluoro-olefin unit on the weatherability of coatings were investigated. In case of pigmented coating, it was confirmed that pigment dispersibility was the more important factor of weatherability rather than chemical structure of fluoro-olefin unit.
