The polysiloxane-polytetrafluoroethylene (SIL-PTFE) system with good hydrophobia properties was developed as a coating system. Thermal stability in air was determined using a thermogravimetric analyser. Temperatures of initial weight loss and temperatures at maximum decomposition rate were determined, and activation energies of decomposition were calculated. The activation energies determined for SIL and PTFE components were in reasonable agreement with literature data. In general the thermal stability of the system increased with increasing PTFE content.
