Properties of the Perfluoroalkylethyl Acrylate (FA) Copolymers and Their Applications for Cosmetics

Two types of FA copolymers (Hybrid polymer and SR polymer) were prepared. The former contained perfluoroalkyl, hydrocarbon, and silicone components, therefore had interface-active property. The latter contained perfluoroalkyl and hydrophilic components, therefore had oil repellency both in air and water. The fluorinated powder treated with Rf phosphate was modified with these two polymers. The cosmetic foundation containing the powders thus treated with FA copolymers had high resistance against make-up deterioration.
