Ruoroelastomers are well known for their excellent chemical resistance, and can be used at much higher temperatures than any other known elastomers except perfluoroelastomers. These elastomers are widely used in industrial and automotive applications. They are also used in combinations with solvents to produce coatings. To satisfy an increasing demand for environmentally friendly forms, a fluoroelastomer latex has been introduced, designed to give good film formation, satisfactory physical properties and high chemical resistance. Depending on final applications, different cure systems can be used to provide coatings with low water and acids swell, improved adhesion to various substrates and much longer catalyzed pot-life.
