From Oil to Transport - Oilrigs as Bridge Foundation

Today there are dozens of oil and gas installations in the North Sea, both in Norwegian and international sector. The large oil and gas industry is going to be reduced in the next 10-30 years. In Norway and abroad there are still many bridge and tunnel projects which to date have not been realised because the projects are too expensive and because of the projects concepts. The Storting (The Norwegian Parliament) passed a resolution which states that older oilrigs are to be removed from the North Sea when discarded. A rough estimate shows that 270 billion Norwegian kroner will be used for this purpose over the next 30 years. Is it possible to use the by-products from these oilrigs in the further development of the transport system?
