Second-harmonic generation in Gd{sub}xY{sub}(1-x)Ca{sub}4(BO{sub}3){sub}3 thin films grown by combinatorial laser MBE

We report on the observation of second-harmonic generation in the epitaxial Gd{sub}xY{sub}(1-x)Ca{sub}4O(BO{sub}3){sub}3 thin films with atomically smooth surface. Those films exhibit the noncritical phase-matching second-harmonic generation of neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser at room temperature.
