The direct comparison of results from experimental in situ measurements of species concentrations and temperature in flames with detailed numeric modeling results is of crucial importance for a better understanding of combustion phenomena and thepredictive capability of flame codes. These in turn can be employed for optimization purposes concerning better efficiency or to minimize environmental impact of the combustion process under study. In addition, absolute concentration measurements are amuch better test case for a validation of chemical kinetic models than relative profiles.
