摘要

An analytical representation of Maxwell type nonlinear viscous damper system is presented. Using this representation, an analytical approach to optimizing seismic response of structural systems with this damper is presented based on random earthquake response analysis. From two viewpoints of preserving structural seismic safety and improving structural comfortability, the optimum damper parameters are determined. Numerical calculations are carried out for m.d.o.f. structural systems with the damper. The validity of the presented approach and the optimality of the damper parameters are examined through a simulation analysis using strong earthquake accelerograms, 1995 Kobe earthquake and 1940 El-Centro earthquake.
