1. It has been possible to identify suitable chemical additives to modify commercially available NR latexes for producing latex modified cement concretes free from coagulation of latex. 2. The NRL based LMCC mixes developed at SERC are cohesive, highly workable and free from bleeding and segregation. 3. It is observed that the improved structure of LMCC due to interpenetrating latex film besides hydrated cement gel results in (1) Improved ductility and energy absorption (2) Good bond with cementitious and clay masonry substrates (3) Improved durability properties in respect of resistance to impact loads, ingress of chlorides, resistance to deterioration under exposure to salt solutions, etc. 4. Tests on the efficacy of LMCC materials for applications have shown that they have great potential in various types of field situations. 5. The NRL formulation developed at SERC are cost-effective compared to synthetic latexes being marketed in the country today, since, an economic analysis considering only the material cost had shown that the NRL formulation developed at SERC, Madras will be more economical than the commercial synthetic latexes by more than two folds.
